Through our Farm2FoodBank partners, local producers, businesses, and supporters invest both food and funding to strengthen our community.

Funds

Empowering Young Learners

In partnership with Co-operators and Agriculture in the Classroom, programs are designed for school-aged children and are expected to reach 1,300 students in their first year.

Learning in a Real-World Setting

By hosting these sessions at the Food Hub, students gain hands-on, practical experience in a real-world environment.

Agriculture and Food Partners

Viterra

Farmers Feeding Families

In partnership with Viterra, we receive donations of red lentils that are distributed to families and 50 community partners. This program emphasizes the power of local production in fighting hunger.

The initiative was first launched in May 2021, when Farmers Feeding Families was announced as a new partnership between Viterra, Government of Canada, Conexus Credit Union, CanMar and Bennett Dunlop.

AGT Foods

AGT Food Bank Exchange Program

Farmers can donate a portion of their crops to secure credits for food banks to purchase affordable goods like pasta, rice, and pulses. By partnering with AGT Foods & Ingredients, this program allows for continuous support to food banks across the province.

To participate in the AGT Food Bank Crop Exchange Program, producers simply commit to an amount and “Round Down” their delivery when dropping off their load of pulses, grains and canola at an AGT Foods facility

Avena Foods

Farm2Kitchen Oats

Avena Foods works with local oat farmers to donate a portion of their delivery, which is processed into ready-to-eat oats for families in need. Through this program, we ensure that everyone can enjoy nutritious, farm-fresh oats.

Food does not come from a grocery store. It comes from a farmer. Kick-started by a donation from RoLo Farms Ltd. – helmed by Roy Klym, Farm2Kitchen connects local producers to kitchen tables around the province ensuring that oatmeal will be an option in food insecure households.

Avena

Farm2Kitchen Soup

We produce an easy-to-make soup mix using donated lentils, oats and other ingredients, helping families prepare nutritious meals. With a shift toward plant-based diets, this program capitalizes on Saskatchewan's lentil farming to provide an accessible, healthy food option.

This soup contains more than nutritious food. It is nurtured by the contributions of farmers, industry, academics, and food banks. Our clients enjoy their soup knowing that prairie people take care of our neighbours!

Protein and Fresh Food Initiatives

SCA/CWA/ Western Prime

Prairie Protein

Protein is essential to a balanced diet, and through this program, we seek to secure 60,000 pounds of protein each year. Farmers can donate livestock to be processed by our partner, Western Prime Meat Processor. The value of the donation is treated as a cash gift, providing farmers with a tax receipt.

A win-win for families and producers! You donate, we processed, you receive a tax receipt for the market value of the final product amount. We distribute to communities in need.

SSGA

Annual Beef Drive

Since 2016, the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association has been running its Annual Beef Drive. The Beef Drive is in partnership with Food Banks of Saskatchewan and it collects over 12,000 pounds of beef every year.

Monette Farms

Vegetable Recovery

Monette Farms is one of the biggest vegetable farm companies in Saskatchewan. They have partnered with us to recover all off-spec vegetables and distribute in Regina, Swift Current and Outlook areas.

Thanks to Monette, our neighbours will have access to fresh produce year-round.

By re-allocating off-spec and surplus to the Food Bank, Monette is also reducing emissions. It's a win-win for our communities!

Innovation and Sustainability

FCC

Modular Growing Container

With crucial support from Farm Credit Canada, this initiative focuses on sustainable, containerized agriculture to grow fresh produce for our food bank clients. In addition to food, we support the development of indoor agriculture in Saskatchewan.

This strategic initiative marks a significant milestone in our fight against food insecurity. By embracing innovative solutions like containerized agriculture, we aim to expand our impact, ensuring that vulnerable individuals and families have consistent access to healthy food options.

Community and Corporate Partnerships

POB, Leo's, & Vic's

Community Lager

Pile O' Bones Brewing Co., Leopold's Tavern, and Victoria's Tavern came together to create a specially brewed Community Lager and fight hunger in our community!

100% of sales proceeds go to the Regina Food Bank.

Community Lager has raised over 100,000 meals for the Regina Food Bank. This is a great story about industry coming together to fight hunger in our community.

Community Lager is available on tap during the holidays and cans available for purchase at Pile O'Bones.
