Over the holidays we are reminded that food is the ultimate connector. This month food will help bring stories, families and communities together. We are a diverse community enriched with diverse traditions. A common uniter is the joy of sharing a meal. For thousands of Regina families, the holiday season is filled with worry about affording the basics. When choosing between rent and heat, a holiday meal can be a luxury.

To fight hunger and feed hope we have teamed up with our friends at Nutrien to ensure these families enjoy the warmth, comfort and community of the holiday season. This month, Nutrien is matching all donations up to $50,000! That's where you come in. Every dollar you give is matched; your donation is DOUBLED.  Your kindness goes twice as far, and you can feed hope.

“Nutrien is dedicated to nourishing communities at home and around the world”, says Renee Glushyk, Senior Manager of Community Relations and Investment. “Supporting the Hampers of Hope campaign is a natural extension of Nutrien’s commitment to Feeding the Future.  By partnering in this initiative, we’re helping ensure the Regina community has access to safe, nutritious food. Together, we can make a meaningful difference.”

Care is the most powerful form of nourishment according to Evelyn Cerda, Vice President, “behind every dollar gifted by Nutrien and our community is the spirit of the holidays, generosity and care. The money is so very appreciated and needed, but when we see our hampers go out this Christmas to local families, it is a great reminder that care and consideration is the best currency of all”.

The Regina Food Bank will distribute over 2,500 Holiday Hampers through Nutrien’s Hampers of Hope initiative, in addition feeding over 17,000 people this month, nearly half of which are children.

This was a very meaningful read. It really highlights how powerful community partnerships can be when it comes to addressing food insecurity, especially during the holiday season. I appreciated how clearly it showed the real impact behind every donation and how much difference matching campaigns can make for families in need. I recently came across a similar discussion on a review blog https://www.sherwaytrilliumdental.ca/, which also emphasized how community-focused support systems can improve everyday well-being in practical ways.
